WHAT ARE IUDICIANS?

Iudicians (EAU-dish-ian) are a humanoid species with felidaeic characteristics. Modern day Iudicians were engineered after the catastrophe to survive famine by consuming excess energy instead of food, resulting in their current anatomy.

Every Iudician has an EMF, this is a strong magnetic field (similar to ones produced by human brains but magnitudes stronger) and it is responsible for suspending the Iudicians hands and head. Nerves in the hands and head respond to the EMF and the brain in order to move and float.

Most Iudicians with an EMF also have a ICD (Internal communication device) which acts as a built in smart phone and allows for communications and Internet access. They are completely customizable and can have multiple projections at one time.

Hands are usually as big as the head, if not slightly smaller for some. Their claws only come out when threatened or aggravated.

Skin tones range from greys, whites, and pale blues.

Skin is medium in thickness and highly durable, usually minimal muscle and fat for easier energy conduction.

Mouths have a unique “zig-zag” shape that is unique for each Iudician. They sport sharp teeth.

FOOD

Iudicians have two ways of restoring energy. Either through recharge beds, or by eating soluble, super calories dense foods. The most basic food ration is practically a sugar cube. Fancier ordurves sold at bars or restaurants maintain a similar size and content but have intricate flavors and textures. Teas and energy drinks like OGRE are a popular alternative for those whose EMFs drain easily.

Iudicians have extremely strong enzymes in their saliva that act almost like acid to convert the food into energy to be distributed via EMF. This allows them to digest food without having a throat or stomach. While the saliva is not painful, it can cause discomfort in large amounts.

Iudician require certain vitamins too. These also come in highly dissolvable forms but also in lotions and salves.

ELITES

Those higher up on the social ladder typically have a stronger EMF than average. This is mostly genetic but it coincides with wealth and power as those with strong EMFs have empathic/telepathic abilities and can strongly influence other Iudicians. Some of the most powerful families, like the Len family, have used this ability to their advantage.

The cost of having a powerful EMF is that it's consistently draining, usually resulting in tired, puffy eyes, longer sleep periods and higher concentrations of energy to keep them awake.

Wealthy “pre-war” Iudicians had plasma tail extensions that are said to improve balance (though very minimally). They have been completely phased out by modern day Iudicians.
